The Warrington Community Ambulance, with just one crew (a paramedic and a EMT), answered 2,800 calls last year. Yet only about 1,800 residents out about 9,900 households responded to the WCA’s annual membership request (about $50 per year.) Local ambulance companies are struggling with rising costs and insufficient funding, said Mark Scholl, chief of operations, Warrington Community Ambulance Corps, at the March meeting of Warrington Democrats. It is difficult to staff ambulance squads because other healthcare fields pay more. The state does not support EMS services and volunteers are in short supply. Insurance companies don’t want to pay more than they already pay for this service, which is not enough to support their operations. Scholl said municipalities will need to fund EMS fully in the future. The Bucks County Herald reported in April that the Chal-Brit EMS is on the verge of insolvency and needs an immediate $300,000 infusion from its member municipalities or it will be unable to meet payroll or maintain operations by the end of the year.

A $55,000 Fishing Expedition that Netted No Fish
This is the first in a continuing series of posts about the many ways Republicans waste your tax dollars—and there are many both past, present and planned for the future. First up is a $55,000 fishing expedition the Republican supervisors undertook as they searched for a campaign issue to use against Democrat Supervisor Ruth Schemm. They came up empty. And Ruth won reelection by about 900 votes!
Here’s what happened:
Township finances are audited every year by an independent outside auditing firm, as required by law. But there were no irregularities found in the audit report and the Republicans thought surely there must be. Afterall, an election was approaching. So, at a cost to taxpayers of $50,000, they engaged the Warrington auditing firm of Bee, Bergvall & Co. to reaudit the township’s books for fiscal years 2018- Sept. 2024 years. Firm partner Cynthia R. Bergvall, CPA, then gave her report publicly at the February 11, 2025, Board of Supervisors. No irregularities were found.
When Republican Supervisor Mike Diorka asked Bergvall what was the bottom line of her findings, Bergvall said, “Your audited financial statements properly reflected the financial state of the township.”
Republican supervisor Vanessa Mauer, who was a delegate for Trump in 2024, tried her best to extract some criticism of the Democrats from Bergvall, but could get none. You might enjoy watching this exchange from the Warrington Township supervisors meeting of February 11, 2025.
In fact, Warrington Democrats had instituted a granular process to account for township spending. Anyone reviewing the accounts could see exactly how money from each account was spent, e.g. general fund disbursement for repairing potholes or capital fund disbursement to upgrade computer systems.
Once the Republicans came to power, they collapsed the categories of spending so anyone looking at the books would not so easily be able to “follow the money.”
Next Up: Auto expenses mismanagement, including the new $100,000 car “needed” for the assistant township manager.
Truth Matters
Our Democratic Values Matter
We Care Because It is About Our Families, Our Neighborhoods, Our Town, and Our County
Every Election Matters
Because Democracy matters
Democrats stand for: voting protections, expanded voting rights (without fraud), and hopefully a paid day off for voting and possibly, expanded voting dates- everyone counts!
Versus Republicans: Democrats fight to combat the Republicans stance of limiting how one can vote and false claim of fraud.
Because the Environment Matters
Democrats are unafraid to take on the seriousness of Global Warming here at home, PFAs, Overbuilding here at home, protecting creeks and Streams.
Versus Republicans: Climate change is not a pressing issue for Republicans.
Because Women Rights Matter
Democrats stand for: Your Body, Your Choice, Healthcare, Tax Relief.
Versus Republicans: Democrats fight the Republican goal of limiting a woman’s right to choose. Republicans goal is to restrict or eliminate the availability of legal abortion and contraceptives.
Because Expertise Matters
Democrats: put qualified candidates on the ballot who will protect the office they are running for.
Versus Republicans: are willing to put candidates on the ballot who do not care about the office and who are willing to disrupt and/or put at risk our Democracy.
Democrats stand for: Supporting our schools, standards for education, funding arts, protecting history, funding state colleges and community colleges so that people don't have to go into debt to get ahead.
Versus Republicans: Democrats fight Republicans on book bans, and other ways to limit our children’s access to historical information.
Because Quality Public Education matters
Because Warrington Matters
Democrats: Focused on Planning, Parks, Pothole fixes
Versus Republicans: Overdevelopment, Deforestation, Deregulation of consumer protections
